After an increase in youth violence in Lexington during the summer of 2014, a group of concerned citizens began meeting at the Downtown Lexington Public Library to discuss what could be done to help. The group wanted to provide a better community and more opportunities for the young people in North Lexington. Out of those meetings, Community Inspired Solutions, now Community Inspired Lexington, was founded by Rebecca Webb and Mike Thomas. CIL was founded to care for young people by being a steady presence in their lives and connecting them with their community through enriching opportunities and experiences.
Our mission
Community Inspired Lexington was created with a mission to provide enriching opportunities and be a steady, supportive presence for youth and families in the North Lexington Community.
Free programs
CIL is able to fulfill its mission by offering completely free programming and resources to all community members. We want to see children and families from Lexington’s North District empowered to achieve anything and everything.
As part of the village, CIL understands supporting a child means supporting parents and grandparents too. We don’t turn anyone away. We are rooted in our community and our volunteers offer direct support and aid to the community and adapt to provide services as needed.
Since 2014, we have served over 200 kids in our community.
